Good Morning 2011

At 4:45am this morning my alarm dragged me from my slumber and R and I returned to the bridge where we had photographed and marveled at the fireworks the night before. I had carefully checked the sunrise times and was therefore very disappointed to find the light already creeping up as we headed out the door.

First light was to have broken at 5:21am with sunrise at 5:51am, yet this photo was taken at 5:27am.

I love that the moon hung just low enough in the sky to fit in the frame of this shot, along with the last star of the day. I was always told that the first star you see in the evening sky is the planet Venus, is it also the last star you can see?
